Theres a first for everything and this is my first questionnaire on DA HAHA!
Childe-of-fyre and
Shanarah of course inspired me to do this
1) How long have you been on DeviantArt?According to the stats, 7 years (Although must be nearing 8). I searched Deviant Art long before without an account, I recall signing up for it during a class in multimedia with my long time friends...
2) What does your username mean?My username refers to my original character
Rue Caliah, he was one of my earliest created OC's (Created in 2003). Out of all my characters, Rue holds All my personal values; the positives and the negatives, some more symbolic than others. For that reason I see him as myself, just worlds apart with very different lives.
Rue's informal name is Spyro, hence the username SpyroRue. I originally went by Spyro, but due to the real world name, it wasn't very original, and most places 'Spyro' was already taken. I am often referred to by the abbreviated name Spy, that was first used in a guild on an MMO, and it has stuck with me since. I am so accustomed to the Name Spy, Spyro and Rue that I respond to it instinctively in person.
My tag line is
Nocturnal Viper, Both relate to Rue and myself again. I have for the last five years been quite a night owl due to work, and referred to myself as
Nocturnal. In roleplay with
Jaderail, he nicknamed me
Viper.
3) Describe yourself in three words.Compassionate, Honest and Reclusive.
4) Are you left or right handed?Right Handed.
5) What was your first deviation? That is a tough one because I have removed so many old projects. When I first submitted art to DA, It was cell-shaded concept art for my creative writing. It evolved into digital painting, but I moved to 3d Rendering. The earliest render still online is:
6) What is your favourite type of art to create?Well thats easy, Digital Art. At this time it would more specifically be 3D Rendering in combination with Digital Painting especially for corrections, VFX and things I cannot render or do not have content for. Creative writing is another passion of mine, and most of my major characters in art originated from it.
7) If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?I would say Digital/Traditional Painting itself. I use it in my 3D renders to varying degree, but its something I haven't truly explored as is and would love to pursue it to new levels. It is an invaluable skill for the restless creative mind, not limited by modeled assets and computer specs
8) What was your first favourite?Honestly I have no Idea. I use the favorites feature very sparingly and its only recently I've really made more use of it. When I use the feature it means theres something that really stands out to me personally in the artwork.
9) What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? It's a mixture really, but mostly I tend to favorite relevant art styles to my own, so its mostly 3D rendered art, and occasional resources. I am unbiased when it comes to software used if its 3d.
10) Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? 12) How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? While not confined to Deviant friends alone, (some are not so much found on DA) but nonetheless are part of our circle of friends - I would say they have
given me life, and I am certain they know who they are
13) What are your preferred tools to create art?The major tools I use for creations are; Adobe Photoshop, Daz Studio and Microsoft Word. I also use Various plug-ins for Daz Studio as well, and occasionally Hexagon for morph creation (Although I'd love to get into Zbrush). I formally studied the Adobe Suite and 3DS Max, and am familiar with some features 3DCoat.
14) What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? That depends on what I am creating, the medium, the subject. For Writing I love to be outside and somewhere quiet, but if I need the Internet for research and to compare things I'll be in my room haha! 3D and digital art I am confined to my computer desk, so not much option there, but its what you make of it right
But theres one major thing, the mind never stops, Ideas come anywhere at anytime, the most active time I will get Ideas for things is when I am trying to get to sleep
15) What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
That would most certainly be the experience of working with my wonderful friends in the development and the launching our first DeviantArt group
3D-Revolution It was a wonderful process to be apart of, and I think it brought us closer.
